Wind Tee Tear Down

Sunday morning November 4th was beautiful for the Wind Tee tear down. Nearly 30 years after the wind tee was constructed, it was removed from its mount onto a flat bed trailor and hauled up to the hangar for assessment.

Tony and I discoverd the Wind Tee was beyond repair, the internal structural wood had rotten through completely. It was amazing the wind tee continued to stand in its current state.
The mounting pole, wind tee mount, bearing, light pole & light, rudder, and sheet metal were salvagable and will be used towards the constructions of the new improved wind tee.
The remaining wood was dumped into the fire wood pile to be burned. The new wind tee will be built in the coming weeks using newly improved PVC piping for all weather, rigid construction. In the meantime, the windsock is still available for determining wind direction while overflying the airfield.
